After admiring this 1927 Colonial for years, our client purchased the home in the historic Murray Hill section of Scarsdale. With a sweeping circular drive, dramatic curved staircase and covered stone porch, the home’s historic details are informing the design in this ongoing project. We are working with Keller/Eaton Architects on a partial renovation that involves restoring many interior elements to their original style, re-locating the kitchen to a large, sunny space in the back of the home, renovating existing bathrooms and adding several new ones. We are also furnishing the home room by room, starting with the formal living room, with a custom wool rug to accent the original oak floors, and most recently completing a home office, featuring Thai silk draperies and de Gournay wallpaper. We are pairing period furnishings with durable materials to reflect the home’s history while creating a space for practical family living.
